Push-out Bond Strength of Fiber Posts Cemented Using New Universal Adhesives on Etched and Nonetched Intraradicular Dentin

Abstract: Aim: The aim of this study was to assess if the curing mode and the etching mode could affect the push-out bond strength of different post cementation systems using two universal adhesives. Materials and methods: A total of 100 single-rooted teeth were divided into Prime & Bond Elect (PBE), Prime & Bond Active (PBA), and Prime & Bond XP (PBXP) as a control. The PBE, PBA, and PBXP were used in the self-etch (SE) and etch and rinse (E&R) mode. Post cementation was performed using Core X flow used in dark-cure an… Show more

“…The flowability of the etching gel in the root canal may fail in collagen fibers exposure. Furthermore, the etching gel cannot be thoroughly washed away and the residual may cause low-pH-related inhibition of polymerization of resin-based materials ( 26 ).…”

“…reduces the root fractures [2]. Hence bonding between luting cement and post and bonding between luting cement and dentin may be improved through different post-surface treatments, careful choice of adhesives, and resin luting cement [8]. Surface treatments of post surfaces improve adhesion between post and resin-luting cement by allowing micromechanical and chemical retention between different constituents [9].…”

“…They contain 10 MDP (10-Methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate), a hydrophilic monomer with mild etching properties that enables it to be used with any etching technique (multimode adhesives) [12]. They combine the already existing "all-inone" concept with the versatility of being adaptable to metals, ceramics, zirconia etc [8]. There are very few studies on the effect of silane application on the bond strength of glass fiber posts.…”
