An intact pituitary gland appears to be necessary for its production, but its relationship to the pituitary lipolytic agents isolated by Rudman, Seidman and Reid 1960, Astwood, Barrett and Friesen 1961, Huggins and Ottaway 1961, Birk and Li 1964, and Trygstad 1968, is not known. Using an assay technique capable of detecting more than one nanogram of growth hormone, Professor F. C. Greenwood (personal communication) could find no evidence for growth hormone in FMS (1-100 microgram).…”
