Pulsed-Laser-Induced Simple Synthetic Route for Tb3Al5O12:Ce3+Colloidal Nanocrystals and Their Luminescent Properties

Abstract: Cerium-doped Tb3Al5O12(TAG:Ce3+) colloidal nanocrystals were synthesized by pulsed laser ablation (PLA) in de-ionized water and lauryl dimethylaminoacetic acid betain (LDA) aqueous solution for luminescent bio-labeling application. The influence of LDA molecules on the crystallinity, crystal morphology, crystallite size, and luminescent properties of the prepared TAG:Ce3+colloidal nanocrystals was investigated in detail. When the LDA solution was used, smaller average crystallite size, narrower size distributi… Show more

“…These comparisons are listed in Table 1. The blue-shifting of Ce 3+ emission peaks in a cubic nanocrystal structure could be explained by the modified crystal field model proposed by Mhin et al [25]. According to this model, as the crystal sizes decrease to nanoscale the bond distance between Ce 3+ and Fig.…”

“…The degree to which they are influenced depends also on the size and shape of nanostructures [34,35]. Recently, Y. Lin et al [36] reported preparation of the ultrafine SrAl 2 0 4 :Eu, Dy needle-like phosphor and its optical properties.…”

“…The PL excitation spectrum of the postannealed TAG:Ce thin films showed two bands peaking at 335 (weak) and 450 nm (strong) due to the transitions from 4f 1 ground state to higher level of 5d 1 configuration. The broad emission spectra centered at 542 nm correspond to the well-known transition from the lowest 5d1 (2D) configuration to the unresolved ground states 4f1 ( 2 F5/2,7/2) of the Ce ion in TAG crystal [18].…”
