“…It is well known that barium titanate (BaTiO 3 , BT) ceramics sintered in air can be converted into a semiconductor by doping with a donor such as La 3+ , Nb 5+ or Dy 3+ and that such a doped BaTiO 3 semiconductor exhibits positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) characteristics [1,2]. Near the ferroelectric transition temperature (Tc) donor-doped BaTiO 3 ceramics show an anomalous increase in resistivity.…”

“…The average grain sizes increased from 0.85 µmto 2.98 µmwith an increase in the doping concentration from x=0.0 to 0.002. In contrast, a further increase in the dopant concentration to x = 0.004 lead to a reduction in the grain size to 2.4 µm.The fast decrease in the grain size when x > 0.002 might be related to thesolute drag effect of segregated La impurities on the grain boundary mobility, as it has been reported for many other doped BaTiO 3 ceramics [4][5][6]. In ceramic systems such as barium titanate, the relaxation frequency of the electrical impedance of the grain boundary is distinct from that of the grain.…”

“…More recently Jonker extended this model by considering the influence of the polarization on the resistivity below T C . Several studies were carried out on the appearance of PTCR effect about the doped BaTiO 3 with Ba 2 LaBiO 6 , Y or Er 3+ [11][12][13] but no study is found about a BaTiO 3 -BaF 2 -LiF system. In our case, the appearance of the semi conduction is probably du to an excess of BaF 2 , wich leads at donor levels within this ceramics.…”
