Background: Considering the undesirable consequences of stress and anxiety in pregnancy and the role of midwives in providing emotional support for pregnant women, it is important to utilize non-medical therapies, such as spiritual counseling. Objectives: The present study aimed to determine the effect of spiritual counseling on stress and anxiety in pregnant women. Methods: This randomized controlled clinical trial recruited 112 pregnant women presenting to the health centers in Maragheh, Iran, in 2016 -17. The participants were assigned to two 56-member groups of control and intervention with a randomized block design. A socio-demographic questionnaire, the perceived stress scale, and the Spielberger state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) were completed before and four weeks after the intervention through interviews with participants. Results: 55 participants in the counseling group and 56 in the control group were followed up and analyzed until the end of the study. The mean (± SD) scores of stress, state anxiety, and trait anxiety were 35.4 (± 4.5), 48.5 (± 4.8), and 47.4 (± 4.6) in the counseling group and 34.8 (± 3.6), 47.8 (± 4.1), and 49.0 (± 4.1) in the control group before the intervention, respectively. The mean (± SD) scores of stress, state anxiety, and trait anxiety were 34.8 (± 3.5), 48.0 (± 4.5), and 44.7 (± 4.0) in the counseling group and 37.8 (± 3.7), 49.7 (± 4.2), and 46.0 (± 3.8) in the control group four weeks after the intervention, respectively. According to ANCOVA for controlling the baseline scores after the intervention, the mean scores of perceived stress (adjusted mean difference = -3.4; 95% confidence interval = -2.3 to -4.4; P < 0.001) and state anxiety (-2.1; -3.6 to -5.5; P < 0.001) were significantly lower in the counseling group, while the two groups had no significant difference in terms of the mean scores of trait anxiety after the intervention. Conclusions: Spiritual counseling can control perceived stress and state anxiety of pregnant women. Therefore, spiritual counseling is recommended as a complementary and effective intervention in controlling the psychological problems of pregnant mothers.

Holroyd nustatė, kad kasdieniai rūpesčiai atspindi dirginančius, erzinančius reikalavimus, kurie atsitinka kasdieniuose susidūrimuose su aplinka, tokius kaip rūpesčiai darbe ar laiko trūkumas. Nustatyta, kad gyvenimo rūpesčiai turi didelę įtaką nėštumo bei gimdymo rezultatams. Siekiant išanalizuoti nėščiųjų patiriamus rūpesčius ir polinkį stresui buvo atliktas tyrimas dviejose Kauno miesto poliklinikose: KKP ir KCP. Tyrime dalyvavo 94 moterys: 52 KKP ir 42 KCP besilankančios nėš-čiosios. Tyrimo duomenims rinkti buvo naudojama rūpesčių skalė (angl. Hassles scale) ir polinkio stresui vertinti skalė. Tyrimo rezultatai parodė, jog didžioji dalis besilaukiančių moterų nurodė turinčios didelį polinkį stresui. Analizuojant nėščiųjų jaučiamus asmeninius rūpes-čius, išsiskyrė trys rūpesčiai, kuriuos jautė daugiau nei trečdalis moterų, tai yra rūpestis dėl nepakankamos vidinės energijos, neramios mintys dėl ateities bei rūpestis dėl fizinės išvaizdos. Sveikatos rūpesčių grupėje trečdalis moterų jautė bendrus rūpesčius dėl sveikatos. Beveik pusė moterų jautė rūpestį dėl miego trūkumo, trečdalis nėščiųjų jautė rūpestį dėl nepakankamo poilsio ir ketvirtadalis dėl socialinių įsiparei-gojimų. Rūpesčius šeimoje jautė tik nedidelė dalis nėščiųjų. Apie pusė besilaukiančių moterų nurodė rūpestį dėl kylančių prekių kainų bei ketvirtadalis dėl nelaimių, eismo ir taršos. Trečdalis nėščiųjų jautė rūpesčius dėl pinigų nenumatytoms situacijoms ir daugiau nei ketvirtadalis dėl pinigų trūkumo namams. Nepasitenkinimą dabartinėmis pareigomis darbe jautė daugiau nei penktadalis nėščiųjų. ĮvadasNuo neatmenamų laikų buvo diskutuojama apie moters emocijų poveikį besivystančiam vaisiui. Vyrauja įsitikini-mas, kad vaisiui gali pakenkti negatyvios motinos emocijos, susijusios su stresu bei nerimu. Šis įsitikinimas įsišaknijęs daugelio šalių kultūrinėse tradicijose bei folklore [1,2]. JE. Holm ir KA. Holroyd (1992) nustatė, kad kasdieniai rūpes-čiai atspindi dirginančius, erzinančius reikalavimus, kurie atsitinka kasdieniuose susidūrimuose su aplinka, tokius kaip rūpesčiai darbe ar laiko trūkumas. Jie įrodė kasdieninių rūpesčių įtaką sveikatai ir suskirstė juos į grupes: šeimos, sveikatos, vidinių, finansinių, darbo, aplinkos ir laiko trū-kumo. Buvo sukurta "Kasdienių rūpesčių skalė", įrankis šiam reiškiniui pamatuoti [3, 4].Kiekvienas žmogus savo gyvenime bent vieną kartą yra patyręs stresą, o dauguma žmonių jį patiria nuolatos [3]. Anot G. Jakaitės (2010), lėtinis stresas turi įtakos embriono -vaisiaus augimui ir vystymuisi, skatina priešlaikinį gimdymą, komplikuoja nėštumą, naujagimiai gimsta mažo svorio. Analysis of State-Level Immigrant Policies and Preterm Births by Race/Ethnicity Among Women Born in the US and Women Born Outside the US

IMPORTANCE Criminalizing immigrant policies, a form of structural racism, are associated with preterm birth; however, to date, few population studies have examined this association by race and nativity status or examined the association of inclusive immigrant policies with preterm birth.OBJECTIVE To assess the extent to which variation in preterm birth by race/ethnicity and nativity status is associated with state-level criminalizing vs inclusive immigrant policies. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTSThis retrospective, cross-sectional study analyzed birth record data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia in 2018, as well as state-level indicators of inclusive and criminalizing immigrant policies. White, Black, Asian, and Latina women who had singleton births were included in the study. Statistical analysis was performed from June 1, 2020, to February 5, 2021. Two continuous variables were created to capture the number of criminalizing vs inclusive immigrant policies in effect as of 2017 in each state. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURESThe main outcome measure was preterm birth (<37 weeks' gestation). RESULTSAmong the 3 455 514 live births that occurred in 2018, 10.0% were preterm, and 23.2% were to mothers born outside the US. Overall, for women born outside the US, each additional statelevel inclusive policy was associated with a 2% decrease in preterm birth (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 0.98 [95% CI, 0.96-1.00]); there were no significant associations between inclusive policies and preterm birth among women born in the US. In models examining the combined associations of criminalizing and inclusive immigrant policies with preterm birth, each additional criminalizing policy was associated with a 5% increase in preterm birth among Black women born outside the US (aOR, 1.05 [95% CI, 1.00-1.10]). Each additional inclusive immigrant policy was associated with a lower likelihood of preterm birth for Asian women born in the US (aOR, 0.95 [95% CI, 0.93-0.98]) and White women born outside the US (aOR, 0.97 [95% CI, 0.95-0.99]). No significant associations were found among other groups.CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE This study suggests that criminalizing immigrant policies are associated with an increase in preterm birth specifically for Black women born outside the US.Inclusive immigrant policies are associated with a decrease in preterm birth for immigrants overall, Asian women born in the US, and White women born outside the US. No associations were found between criminalizing or inclusive immigrant policies and preterm birth among Latina women.
