A vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is a type of Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) that uses wireless routers inside each vehicle to act as a node. The need for effective solutions to urban traffic congestion issues has increased recently due to the growing number of automobile connections in the car communications system. To ensure a high level of service and avoid unsafe situations brought on by congestion or a broadcast storm, data dissemination in a VANET network requires an effective approach. Effective multi-objective optimization methods are required to tackle this because of the implied competing nature of multi-metric approaches. A meta-heuristic technique with a high level of solution interactions can handle efficient optimization. To accomplish this, a meta-heuristic search algorithm particle optimization was chosen. In this paper, we have created a network consisting of vehicles as nodes. The aim is to send emergency messages immediately to the stationary nodes. The normal messages will be sent to the FIFO queue. To send these messages to a destination node, multiple routes were found using Time delay-based Multipath Routing (TMR) method, and to find the optimal and secure path Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used. Our method is compared with different optimization methods such as Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Firefly Optimization (FFO), and Enhanced Flying Ant Colony Optimization (EFACO). Significant improvements in terms of throughput and packet loss ratio, reduced end-to-end delay, rounding overhead ratio, and the energy consumption are revealed by the experimental results.

A vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is generally a heterogeneous wireless network generated between vehicles. The vehicles of the VANET have wireless transceivers and computerized control for allowing the vehicles to operate as network nodes, hence the vehicles can communicate in a VANET environment. However, the communication of VANET is affected because of the higher network congestion and energy usage caused by the dynamic topology of VANET. Therefore, an effective Traffic-Aware Routing (TAR) approach is required to be developed to enhance communication. In this paper, the Multi-Objective Delay Centric Enhanced Artificial Ecosystem-based Optimization (MDCEAEO) is proposed to develop a TAR in VANET. The End to End Delay (EED) is considered as primary cost in the MDCEAEO to develop the TAR where a vehicle's average predicted speed is utilized for identifying the traffic in VANET. The developed MDCEAEO-TAR method is used to improve data transmission by avoiding collisions. The performances of MDCEAEO-TAR are evaluated using EED, energy consumption, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), and the routing overhead. The existing research such as LARgeoOPT, DREAMgeoOPT, ZRPgeoOPT, Improved Harmony Search (IHS) and Enhanced Distance, Residual energy based Congestion Aware Ant Colony Optimization (EDR-CAACO), Artificial Ecosystem-based Optimization (AEO), FixedStep Average and Subtraction Based Optimizer (FS-ASBO) and Three Influential Members Based Optimizer (TIMBO) are used to evaluate the MDCEAEO-TAR. The PDR of the MDCEAEO-TAR is 0.9836 at 1000s, which is high when compared to the IHS.

In some Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) applications, the geocast routing protocol is used for data transmission from a source vehicle to a group of vehicles located in a common region. Efficient data transmission to the destination region is one of the critical challenges of geocast routing protocols. In this research, the geocast routings are considered that exploit rateless coding to improve the reliability, and so packet delivery ratio. Some of these geocast routing methods use flooding schemes to deliver the messages to the destination region. However, in order to cut high overheads caused by flooding schemes, the routing protocols that use unicast routes for data delivery have been taken into account. In this way, recent geocast routing protocols exploit on-demand unicast routing methods such as Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) to deliver the packets to the destination region and then broadcast them in that area. However, the packet delivery ratio and the delay of those methods are respectively lower and higher than flooding-based methods. This paper proposes to exploit the tabledriven Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol to deliver the messages to the destination region. To customize the OLSR protocol for geocasting, we propose a number of modifications to message flows and data exchanges. Compared to on-demand geocast protocols, OLSR imposes lower message delay and delivers more messages to the destination region at a higher overhead expense. To overcome this overhead, we also propose algorithms to adjust the control message intervals of the OLSR protocol in each node. Simulation results show that our OLSR-based protocol demonstrates better performance in terms of delay and packet delivery ratio than those of the traditional AODV-based method and CALAR-DD protocol regarding various vehicles' densities, vehicles' velocities, message sizes, and destination region sizes. Compared to the traditional OLSR, using the tuned OLSR-based method has also significantly reduced the signaling overhead costs.
