INTRODUÇÃO: Estudantes universitários têm sido considerados pertencentes ao grupo de risco para Disfunção Temporomandibular (DTM), uma vez que essa doença tem fatores psicológicos envolvidos e a fase acadêmica vem acompanhada de muitos fatores psicossociais. Aliado a isso, o mundo vive hoje num momento de sofrimento devido a pandemia da COVID-19. OBJETIVO: Comparar a prevalência de sintomas de DTM entre os alunos que estavam em acompanhamento psicológico (grupo teste) e os que não estavam (grupo controle) durante a pandemia. MÉTODOS: Realizou-se um estudo observacional, analítico transversal, utilizando os questionários validados da Escala de Ansiedade e Depressão (HAD) e Questionário de Sintomas do DC/TMD. A amostra foi obtida de forma on-line, e constituída por 170 universitários maiores de 18 anos, pertencentes à Universidade Federal do Delta do Parnaíba. RESULTADOS: Os resultados mostraram uma relação sem significância entre ansiedade e gênero, porém, em relação à depressão, foi detectada no grupo controle uma associação significativa entre gênero e depressão com odds ratio de 0,6997 para o gênero feminino e 0,3226 para o gênero masculino (p=0,0056). Em relação à presença de sintomas de DTM, encontrou-se uma prevalência de 89,4% no grupo teste e de 81,2% no grupo controle, sem diferença significativa entre eles. Também não houve associação significativa entre DTM e gênero. CONCLUSÃO: Concluiu-se que existe uma alta prevalência de sintomas de disfunção temporomandibular nos universitários da UFDPar, no entanto, não houve correlação significativa de DTM entre gênero e acompanhamento psicológico.
