Pseudonocardia mangrovi sp. nov., isolated from soil

Abstract: A novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic actinomycete, designated strain SMC 195, was isolated from soil collected from a mangrove forest in Thailand. The strain produced extensively branched substrate and aerial mycelia. The substrate mycelium was fragmented into rod-shaped elements, and spore chains consisting of smooth and rod-shaped spores were formed on the aerial mycelium. The results of phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that SMC 195 represented a member of the genus Pseudonoca… Show more

“…Plant-associated microorganisms were founded previously in rhizospheres -for example, Bradyrhyzobium [23], Nocardioides [32]. Some of the taxa previously reported as typical soil microbiota -Nocardioides [32,33], Pseudonocardia [34,35], Kribbella [36], Pseudolabrys [37]. Except differential analysis limitation, this result can be connected with using of topsoil.…”

“…In particular, this genus has been reported as including actinomycetes commonly isolated from marine sediments [9, 10]. Thus, a few species have been described from marine environments such as mangrove forest [11], coastal [12], bathyal [13], abyssal [14] and hadal [15] sediments.…”

“…The genus Pseudonocardia belongs to the family Pseudonocardiaceae and was first proposed by Henssen [1]. At the time of writing, the genus Pseudonocardia comprises 60 recognized species according to the LPSN (List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature, www.bacterio.net/pseudonocardia.html), including the most recently described Pseudonocardia mangrovi [2]. Members of the genus Pseudonocardia are aerobic, Gram-stain-positive, non-acid-fast with high DNA G+C content (68–79 mol%) in their genomes.…”
