“…An earlier multisite study which used within-subject pre-post design by McGrew et al (1995) showed a reduction of hospitalizations and mean number of hospital days for each patient within the 2-year period after respondents received ACT as compared to the 2 years before entry into the program. In addition, Santos et al (1993), using a different study design, also reported the same significant reduction in the mean number of hospital days per year, the mean length of stay and the mean number of hospital admissions after entry into the program when compared to the 5-year period before entry into the program. This significant reduction in hospitalization among HCPS users, despite the limitations faced by the service is encouraging for the development of such service in Malaysia.…”
