“…Cadmium exposure markedly decreased the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase. This is consistent with the most recent finding of others [ [64] , [65] , [66] , [67] ]. Cadmium being a Fenton metal [ 7 , 8 ], may have bound to these enzymes, interacted with the covalent bonds of their amino acids residues and thus abruptly inhibited their activities.…”

“…However, mounting evidence has recently proved the efficacy of numerous substances with antioxidant capacity in preventing the Cd‐induced testicular damage (Bashir et al ., 2019; Bhardwaj et al ., 2020a; Wang et al ., 2020). In the present study, co‐incubation with Qcn provides significant protection to the Cd‐induced oxidative stress in testis by inhibiting the lipid peroxidation (decrease in MDA level), and restoring the Cd‐induced reduction in total antioxidant capacity (FRAP activity) with the simultaneous restoration of antioxidant enzymes' (CAT, SOD, GST) activity.…”

“…In the present study, co‐incubation with Qcn provides significant protection to the Cd‐induced oxidative stress in testis by inhibiting the lipid peroxidation (decrease in MDA level), and restoring the Cd‐induced reduction in total antioxidant capacity (FRAP activity) with the simultaneous restoration of antioxidant enzymes' (CAT, SOD, GST) activity. Our findings are constant with the previous findings that showed that Qcn treatment affords significant protection to the Cd‐induced oxidative stress‐mediated damage through its antioxidant and free radical scavenging capacity (Mao et al ., 2018; Wang et al ., 2018; Wang et al ., 2020). Randomized clinical trials also suggested that medical therapy for infertility with natural antioxidant curcumin or alpha‐lipoic acid supplementation could improve sperm quality parameters by reducing oxidative stress (Alizadeh et al ., 2018; Haghighian et al ., 2015).…”

“…The weight of the testis was then measured in grams using a digital analytical balance (Sartorius CP 324S), sensitive to weight increment of 0.0001 gram. Relative Tissue Body Weight Index (RTBWI) was calculated to get standardize the weight of the testis over rats of different sizes, using the following formula 16 .…”
