“…Compounds related to phosphonic acid are active against Uvomyces appendiculatus (Pers.) Unger on bean (Rusuku et al, 1983), and on diseases caused by Fusarium oxysporum on a number of different species (Yamada et al, 1986). T h e simple salts of phosphonic acid were not used experimentally as fungicides until considerably later, after it became clear the the alkyl phosphonates were degraded in the plant, and the phosphonate anion was the active principle Bompeix & Saindrenan, 1984;Bower & Coffey, 1985;Coffey & Joseph, 1985;Dolan & Coffey, 1988;Fenn & Coffey, 1984.…”

“…35−37 PPA-based compounds have also been tested for antibacterial activity. 38,39 Substituted PPAs are employed for extraction of metal ions using conventional extraction methods. No literature data is available on the recovery of metal ions using SCCO 2containing PPA-based compounds; hence, the present work is mainly focused to examine the applicability of PPA as a ligand in SCCO 2 medium.…”

“…The solubility of various ligands (that are employed for the actinide extraction) in SCCO 2 medium was determined to evaluate their use in SFE of actinides. Diverse techniques have been accounted for recovery of lanthanides and actinides using SCCO 2 + ligand mixture. H-phosphinic acids, [(R)P(O)(H)(OH)], are a group of organophosphorus compounds that are widely employed as ligands for metal ion extraction and also used as precursors for synthesis of drugs and biologically active phosphorous compounds . H-phosphinic acids interact with the metal ions through “PO” group, and substituted phosphinic acid forms stable complexes with different metal species. Derivatives of phenylphosphinic acid (PPA) are widely used as ligands for the extraction of heavy metals, lanthanides, and actinides. PPA-based compounds have also been tested for antibacterial activity. , Substituted PPAs are employed for extraction of metal ions using conventional extraction methods. No literature data is available on the recovery of metal ions using SCCO 2 -containing PPA-based compounds; hence, the present work is mainly focused to examine the applicability of PPA as a ligand in SCCO 2 medium.…”
