Proposed cellular network for Indian conditions for enhancement of spectral density and reduction of power consumption & RF pollution

Abstract: Abstract-With the exponentially increasing demand for wireless communications the capacity of current cellular systems will soon become incapable of handling the growing traffic. Since radio frequencies are diminishing natural resources, there seems to be a fundamental barrier to further capacity increase. The solution can be found by using smart antenna systems.Smart or adaptive antenna arrays consist of an array of antenna elements with signal processing capability that optimizes the radiation and reception … Show more

“…It has been proved beyond doubt that incorporation of intelligent / adaptive antenna along with A-SDMA approach alone can enhance spectral density, reduce power consumption and RF pollution drastically in cellular communication network [1], [19], [20]. In addition to it inclusion of remote RF technology will further enhance capacity of the network.…”

“…It is also assumed that the MS is equipped with a Rake receiver capable of performing "maximal ratio combining" of the signals it receives from the transmitting BSs [26]. The following cellular structure will be used for dense urban areas [27]: 1) Macro cell will be marked for fast traffic and micro cell will be marked for slow traffic in hierarchical structure. The RF resources will be dynamically allocated between macro and micro cells on the basis of velocity estimation using adaptive array antennas [24].…”
