Properties of Silver Nanoparticles Prepared by the Electric Spark Dispersion Method

Abstract: The morphological and structural characteristics of nanoscale silver particles obtained by the method of electric spark dispersion of metal granules in the liquid aprotic medium were obtained using atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering spectroscopy. The specific surface, morphology, structure and the distribution by size of the particles are presented.

“…The advancement of new methods of AgNPs preparation serves to develop nanoparticles with higher biomedical activity, higher stability, and lower toxicity [ 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 ]. Usually, various organic solvents and reducing agents are used for AgNPs production, and as a result, their traces could remain in the final AgNPs.…”

“…The resulting nanostructured product can be used in designing a new filter system for water purification. Detail process description and confirmation nanoscale size of the materials prepared by this method, are reflected in works [9][10][11] . The aim of this work was to crate and study the physicochemical and sorption properties of new modified sorbents with nanostructured surface based on aluminum and iron, obtained by the electro-dispersion method.…”

“…Even narrow differences in nanoparticle sizes may cause significantly different overall biological response (Coradeghini et al, 2013). Here we applied a comet assay for comparative investigation of genotoxicity of gold (Au) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles, prepared by the modified electric spark dispersion method in water.Despite of plenty different method of nanoparticles production, including even laser ablation (Stašić, et al, 2016), modified electric spark dispersion allowed to produce nanoparticles of different shapes and properties by changing experimental medium and parameters of electric impulses (Zhuravkov et al, 2014). The comet assay is a convenient and informative method for genotoxicity studies (Vandghanooni et al, 2011).…”
