Properties of alkoxysilane functionalized polycaprolactone/polydimethylsiloxane‐modified epoxy resin composites: Effect of curing temperature and compositions

Abstract: A series of epoxy resin composites containing different contents of alkoxysilane functionalized polycaprolactone/polydimethylsiloxane (PCS-2Si) were prepared after curing with polyamidoamine curing agent at different temperatures. The effects of PCS-2Si content and curing temperature on morphologies, solvent resistance, and surface properties of the composites were studied. The scanning electron microscope results showed that increasing the PCS-2Si content and curing temperature caused the changes of miscibili… Show more

“…PCL is readily miscible with a variety of other compounds; hence, its major use is to improve, through chemical modifications, the characteristics and/or the quality of the compounds with which it blends [6,7]. Hydrolysis of PCL represents an important step for producing shorter subunits with tailored properties.…”

“…Curing kinetics has great guiding significance for the usability and mechanical property of the PMES‐based low‐temperature resistance silicone rubber. Commonly used methods for the kinetics study of rubber include physico‐chemical methods, vulcametry, thermal analysis, and spectrometry . The thermal effect of curing is used as the basis in the thermal analysis of curing kinetics.…”

“…Structural changes and the curing mechanism can be deduced from the changes observed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Hong et al . investigated the intensity change in the absorption peak of an epoxy group during epoxy resin curing using FTIR and simplified the model as: dαdt=k(1α)n, where α is the ratio of integral areas of the absorption peaks, k represents the reaction rate constant, and n represents the reaction order.…”
