Promoting Collaborative Construction Process Management by Means of a Normalized Workload Approach

Abstract: The research project »COCkPiT« -Collaborative Construction Process Managementaims at developing methodologies and tools to enhance time and budget control in construction projects, with a focus on small and medium-sized companies. The hypothesis is that the interplay of the three main phases of project management -planning, scheduling, and monitoring -can be improved by collecting highly detailed information early on in each phase, and making it available to the other phases at a high frequency. COCkPiT builds… Show more

“…The paper was developed within the COCkPiT (Collaborative Construction Process Management) research project and especially in collaboration with a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) company using as a case study a medium sized hospital construction project. The concepts of "pitch" and normalized workload approach (NWA) (Dallasega et al 2016;Schimanski et al 2018) represent the basis for this study. At this, the key factor is the "pitch" as the NWA's core element, which helps us to schedule, and monitor construction projects in a quantitative and timely way with a very high accuracy.…”
