Scholars have paid much attention to the problems existing in the land expropriation risk assessment system and the sound countermeasures from a qualitative perspective. Empirical research on land expropriation social stability risk assessment from the micro-level perspective is limited. This study analyzed the Chinese social stability risk assessment system of land expropriation though a case study of a land expropriation project in China. The current social stability risk assessment system of land expropriation, which includes the assessment purposes, principles, contents, methods, and results, was analyzed. We concluded with lessons and deficiencies from the current social stability risk assessment system. The research findings show that: (1) the current land expropriation risk assessment system mostly takes the land administration department as the main body of responsibility, identifies the risks by means of seminars, visits, letters, and visits, and takes the opinion of the masses or experts as the risk assessment result. (2) The current land expropriation risk assessment system should be standardized in terms of defining the risk assessment of land expropriation, improving the land expropriation risk assessment system and optimizing land expropriation assessment procedures. This paper provides a reference for the sustainable development of land use in rural and urban areas in China.

As the fundamental unit of urban governance, communities are the grassroots for responding to and facing disasters directly, and their resilience to disaster risks has garnered increasing consideration. Despite the large body of community resilience research that now exists, few studies have considered the resilience of informal settlements such as ‘urban villages’. In fact, the high density of building facilities in informal settlements, the diversity and mobility of their populations, their lack of public space and infrastructure and all kinds of managerial problems have become more prominent in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to analyse the characteristics of the migrant populations and healthy living environments of informal settlements, sum up the pandemic prevention measures and their effects, study the community resilience of informal settlements during the COVID-19 pandemic and summarise the strategies to build resilience. Our research results can be utilised to (1) enrich the content of existing community resilience research and promote the resilience of the whole city system in the face of public health events, and (2) provide a scientific basis for comprehensive management of informal settlements and optimise the living environments of migrant populations from the perspective of resilience.

Investigaciones sobre los impactos del cambio climático han informado sobre los efectos de este en la migración poblacional, concentrándose frecuentemente en pequeños estados insulares o en eventos extremos. Esta investigación examinó si las familias salvadoreñas con inseguridad de la propiedad del suelo tenían una mayor probabilidad a que al menos un miembro de la familia emigrara después de sufrir los efectos vinculados con el cambio climático. El enfoque se concentró específicamente en inundaciones hidrológicas y sequías meteorológicas a través de una regresión logística binaria. Esta técnica estadística es frecuentemente utilizada en el estudio de migraciones, pero se modelaron las relaciones entre la propiedad del suelo y los desastres de lento desarrollo. Diferentes bases de datos se combinaron para analizar las variables, la Encuesta de Hogares y Propósitos Múltiples y la base de datos Des-Inventar. Los hallazgos empíricos sugieren que las variables a menudo afectan positiva o negativamente la migración de al menos un miembro de la familia según el tipo de tenencia, mostrando que la inseguridad en la misma impactó negativamente a la probabilidad de tener un miembro de la familia viviendo en el extranjero. Por otro lado, la diferenciación existente de acuerdo con el tipo de desastre asociado y la temporalidad de ocurrencia de los eventos ha sido un factor importante en la toma de decisión para migrar. Los resultados reivindican la importancia de estudiar el efecto acumulativo de los desastres en la migración internacional, así como las políticas de titularizaciones masivas.
