AbstractThe teaching of astronomy can arouse students' interest in Science. The present work, therefore, presents the development of an Astronomy workshop with 40 high school students participating in the project Encouraging Girls in Science & Technology, an activity promoted by the Engineer of the Future (ENGFUT) program at the University of Caxias do Sul. The current moment of Education requires teachers to rethink strategies and methods to improve the teaching and learning. In this context, a two-hour workshop was developed using the following active learning strategies: Flipped Classroom, Peer Instruction and Just-In-Time Teaching. Firstly, a week before the workshop, a text on the occurrence of the seasons was made available to the girls and also asked to answer an online questionnaire. With the results of the questionnaire, the workshop was planned based on the difficulties presented by the students. In the workshop, with the purpose of promoting understanding about the mechanism related to the occurrence of the seasons, a didactic model representing the movement of the Earth around the Sun was presented. Finally, an activity was proposed using the Kahoot! with the purpose of evaluating the constructed knowledge. The analysis of the data obtained in the activity indicated that the use of active learning strategie...
