Prognostic and Diagnostic Significance of SDPR-Cavin-2 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract: Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor worldwide. Due to the lack of early prediction marker, numerous patients were diagnosed in their late stage. The family of cavins plays important roles in caveolae formation and cellular processes. Cavin-2, one of the members of cavins, has been reported as a suppresser in cancers. In this study, we have investigated its expression pattern and clinical significance in HCC. Methods: RT‑qPCR was performed to detect the expression of cavin-2. Results… Show more

“…lncRNA SDPR-AS is the AS partner of the mRNA of SDPR . It has also been demonstrated that SDPR is an important tumor suppressor in certain cancers, including prostate cancer,20,35 breast cancer,21,36 and hepatocellular carcinoma 37. In particular, a previous study reported that SDPR was remarkably downregulated in RCC cells,22 which sparked our interest in conducting this study to investigate the functional and prognostic roles of its AS lncRNA in RCC.…”

“…Many novel serum biomarkers of HCC have been identified in recent years, including osteopontin , UQCRH , CXCL1 , integrator complex subunit 6 , PIVKA–II , TIP 30 , cavin–2 , and annexin A2 , among others. Although a variety of potential serum biomarkers were put forward by different research centers, clinical applications have been limited because of the highly heterogeneous nature of HCC.…”

“…Therapies for HCC have continued to evolve over the last decade; HCC patients can be treated using surgical resection, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), radiotherapy and sorafenib. However, HCC patients cannot be totally cured due to prognosis difficulty, recurrence and early blood vessel invasion [2][3][4][5]. These problems cannot be solved because fundamental studies have not fully clarified the molecular mechanisms of HCC [6][7][8].…”
