The sector that ranges from cultivation to sale of ornamental species is highlighted in the agribusiness scenario, due to the frequent increase in demand for its products. This importance encourages the exploration of new technologies that allow the development of protocols for the multiplication of species of commercial interest. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate and validate the use of girdling, ethephon and the selection of degree of branch maturation as techniques for increasing the establishment of cuttings of Rhododendron simsii Planch. The treatments combining the three study factors were applied to the branches of the parent plants: two levels of girdling (with and without), two levels of application of ethephon at the concentration of 900 mg L-1 (with and without application) and two degrees of maturation (woody and herbaceous). It was found that the presence of branch girdling increased the rate of establishment of cuttings by 43.75%, while the joint use of two techniques, the application of ethephon and the selection of herbaceous cuttings, resulted in an establishment rate 56.25% higher than the average of other treatments. Thus, it can be concluded that both branch girdling and the application of ethephon combined with the use of herbaceous branches can be used as techniques for the greater establishment of cuttings of Rhododendron simsii Planch.

A viticultura é uma atividade agrícola de grande importância social no Brasil. No Vale do São Francisco, esta atividade agrícola, tem apresentado grande expansão, e a cultivar "Isabel" têm sido amplamente explorada na viticultura brasileira, destinada a indústria de sucos, doces, bebidas e vinagres, entretanto possui rápido amadurecimento e baixa resistência pós-colheita. A produção de licores constitui uma forma de contornar os problemas relacionados à comercialização de produtos perecíveis. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo elaborar um licor de uva, utilizando a cultivar "Isabel", avaliar os atributos sensoriais (cor, aparência, odor, textura, sabor), avaliação global do produto e intenção de compra. O licor foi elaborado a partir da infusão da uva em aguardente com graduação alcoólica de 39º GL, em proporção de 1:1, ou seja, para cada quilo de uva, foi adicionado um litro de álcool, deixado em repouso durante 10 dias, com adição de açúcar na forma de xarope. A avaliação sensorial foi feita utilizando uma escala hedônica de 9 pontos. Os resultados obtidos foram submetidos à análise descritiva. O licor de uva, elaborado a partir da cultivar "Isabel", obteve uma excelente aceitabilidade sensorial pelos provadores, apresentando-se como uma opção agregar valor a uva, aumentando a diversidade de bebidas alcoólicas no mercado.

Phytoregulators have been used as grapevine defoliants in cluster zones to manage and improve grape quality and production. The present study evaluated the effect of the phytoregulator ethephon on the grapevine defoliation of the cluster region, Botrytis bunch rot (BBR) epidemiology, and the viticultural performance of ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, during the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 growing seasons, in the highland region of the Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil. Ethephon was applied in the bunch region of both sides of the grapevine vegetative canopy, at the phenological stage of beginning of ripening (BBCH-81) in five active ingredient doses (0 mg L-1 (control); 720 mg L-1; 1,440 mg L-1; 2,160 mg L-1; and 2,880 mg L-1), following a randomized block design with four replications and five plants per replication. The following parameters were evaluated: BBR epidemiology, vegetative, productive, and technological and phenolic maturation. The increasing ethephon doses significantly reduced the linear leaf drop and affected the technological and phenolic grape maturation parameters, improving the must pH, total polyphenols, color 420, 520, and 620 ղm, color intensity (°hue angle), and anthocyanin, and reducing the total solubre solids in the ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ grapevine. However, this significant effect on the linear leaf drop and the technological and phenolic maturation parameters did not interfere with other vegetative, productive, and BBR epidemiology parameters evaluated in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the highland region of southern Brazil.
