“…However, the supplementation of milk replacer in diet of lambs resulted in altered rumen fermentation characteristics indicated by higher production of total volatile fatty acid (TVFA) and acetic acid in W60 and W90 groups as compared to control group, whereas pH of rumen fluid was within the desired range (5.8–6.8) required for optimum nutrient utilization and microbial growth (Stewart, 1977). These results are in concordance with earlier reports of Bhatt et al, (2018) who reported that supplementation of milk replacer in the diet of lamb resulted in better rumen development. In addition, increased VFA due to milk replacer feeding is due to addition of butyric acid in milk replacer.…”

“…In the present study, significant effect of weaning age and milk replacer supplementation was observed on BW of lambs at different stages of experiment. The chemical composition of different feed resources fed to pre‐weaning lambs was comparable to the findings of Bhatt et al, (2018) and was sufficient to fulfil the nutrient requirements as per ICAR (2013). The pattern of growth rate in lambs indicated moderate to high growth potential as defined in earlier reports (Karim et al 2007; Bhatt et al, 2017).…”

“…In this way, this energy contributed to muscle formation and growth in the animals of the present study. Bhatt et al [ 37 ] observed a higher performance of lambs fed diets with high levels of PUFAs.…”
