Production and rooting of cordia - Cordia trichotoma (Vell.) Arrab. ex Steud. mini-cuttings collected from ministumps of asexual and seminal origin

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the production of cordia (Cordia trichotoma) ministumps of seminal and asexual origin, as well as the effect of the naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) on the rooting of mini-cutitings. Seedlings and plantlets from rootedIn clonal mini-hedge, the production of ministumps should vary among clones, management techniques, ministump age and vigor, among others factors (DIAS et al., 2012). The nutritional management has also been a determinant factor for the competency of mini-cutting rooting,… Show more

“…The nutrient solution completely soaked the substrate and formed a surface layer, which was drained through two holes, one at the base and the other at the top of the tray. The nutritive solution consisted of quantities of macro and micronutrients as described by Kielse et al (2015). Solution pH was kept between 5.5 and 6.0, and electrical conductivity at 1 dS m -1 , both adjusted weekly.…”

“…A solução nutritiva foi fornecida diariamente, durante 15 minutos, com o auxílio de um programador digital e uma bomba de baixa vazão, até o encharcamento completo do substrato e a formação de uma lâmina superficial de solução. A solução nutritiva foi constituída pelas quantidades de macro e micronutrientes descritas por Kielse et al (2015). O pH da solução foi mantido entre 5,5 e 6,0 e a condutividade elétrica em 1 dS m -1 , ambos ajustados semanalmente.…”

“…The phenotypic condition of the plant donor of vegetative propagules was pointed as a factor that can influence the regeneration of root cuttings. This is caused by the influence of seasonal variation in the physiological processes, such as photosynthesis and substance transport, affecting the availability of auxins and carbohydrates in the plant (Ky-Dembele et al, 2010;Snedden et al, 2010). In other tree species, the carbohydrate content of the propagules differs and might affect rooting responses of cuttings.…”

“…As for vegetative propagation, studies show that cloning this species is a challenge, and it was not possible to define an efficient plantlet production protocol so far (Fick, 2007;Heberle, 2010;Kielse, 2015;Kielse et al, 2013). The most expressive result was obtained by Kielse et al (2013) who observed 45% rooting of root cuttings treated with 30 mM of indolebutyric acid (IBA).…”
