Production and Emulsifying Effect of Esters on The Basis of Polyglycerol and Еpoxidized Derivatives of Sunflower and Soybean Oil

Abstract: Oligo and polyesters of polyglycerol and polyricinoleic acid are widely used as emulsifiers in various industries. New promising emulsifiers for oil-water systems were obtained based on the condensation of glycerol and its oligomers with epoxidized derivatives of vegetable oils. The type of the resulting emulsion was studied. The influence of the composition of the emulsion and the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of the emulsifier on the type of the resulting emulsions was investigated. It was shown that … Show more

“…Previously, the processes of modification of epoxidized derivatives of fatty acids of sunflower and soybean oils with glycerin and polyglycerol were studied. A wide range of new emulsifiers has been obtained [18][19]. The aim of this work was to study the processes of modification of epoxidized derivatives of FAME of sunflower oil under the action of ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol and butanediol-1,4, as well as to study the structure and properties of the esters obtained.…”

“…Emulsification properties of synthesized polyglycerol‐esters were evaluated in solutions of 40/60 emulsifier solution/oil ratio (WOR). Visual inspection was applied to determined emulsion stability using the half‐life period concept (time at which 50% of the dispersed phase separates) 23 …”

“…Visual inspection was applied to determined emulsion stability using the half-life period concept (time at which 50% of the dispersed phase separates). 23 Droplet size and size distributions of diluted emulsions were measured using a Laser Light Scattering equipment (Litesizer™ 500). Surface tension of aqueous F I G U R E 1 Schematic representation of polyglycerol ester synthesis polymer solutions was determined as a function of polymer concentration using the Pendant-Drop Method on a Drop Shape Analyzer (DSA25, Kruss, Germany).…”

“…Polysaccharides (such as cellulose and starch), wood, and proteins are commonly used renewable raw materials, but vegetable oils (VOs) are the most promising ones . For many years, they have found application in various fields such as components of paints, coatings, lubricants, or emulsifiers and recently have attracted attention as alternative material for polymer synthesis . In the literature, there are many examples of modified and nonmodified VOs or their fatty acids used as starting materials for preparation of numerous polymers.…”
