Process modeling for object oriented analysis using BORM Object Behavioral Analysis

Abstract: BORM Object Behavior Analysis (BOBA) is a first stage in a process of object modeling which has proved successful in a wide number of applications. This paper discusses this method and describes a simple application. One advantage of BOBA is the small number of concepts required combined with considerable expressiveness. In this way, BOBA is in the tradition established over the past few years by E-R modeling.

“…In order to perform transformation between BORM ORD and BPMN PSD elements, both notations must be analyzed. As a result of this analysis, a set of mapping rules has been established [2], [8], [7]. These mapping rules are presented in the formula 1, where there are elements of BORM on the left hand side and elements of BPMN on the right hand side.…”

“…It was designed as a method capable of covering all phases of software development; however, it is primarily used in the initial phase of project, also known as business analysis. It makes extensive use of business process modelling [8]. The effectiveness of BORM is achieved by unified and simple methods for presenting all relevant aspects of model and use of a limited, easily comprehensible group of concepts for every life-cycle phase.…”

“…This research is based on the BORM method described in publications by (Knott, Merunka, Polak, 2000, 2006Struska, Merunka, 2007;Struska, Pergl, 2009). The presented tool OpenCase (Pergl, Tůma, 2012) follows this modelling method, and uses it as input of transformation.…”
