Çalışmanın amacı, metafor (mecaz) tekniğini kullanarak uzaktan eğitim öğrencilerinin uzaktan eğitime yönelik algılarını tespit etmektir. Çalışma grubunu 2014 yılında Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Uzaktan Eğitim Meslek Yüksekokulu'nda eğitim alan 220 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgubilim modeli seçilmiştir. Katılımcılardan demografik özelliklerinin yanı sıra "Uzaktan Eğitim ………….. gibidir. Çünkü ……………….." ibaresindeki boşlukları çevrimiçi bir form aracılığıyla doldurmaları istenmiştir. Veriler içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilerek, kategoriler ve temalar oluşturulmuştur. Öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim hakkındaki algıları belirlenen temalara ve kategorilere göre yorumlanmıştır. Metaforlar; "Esneklik", "Erişilebilirlik", "Eğitsel", "Etkileşim" ve "Duyuşsal" olmak üzere beş kategoride toplanmıştır. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun olumlu metaforlar kullandığı ve uzaktan eğitime yönelik algılarının pozitif yönde olduğu görülmüştür.

Background: Student support services are a broad and important concept in education, each of which is related to a specific set of hypotheses related to the subject. This lack of theoretical and conceptual ambiguity has led to poor understanding and communication between researchers and policymakers and problems in comparing studies in different fields. The purpose of this study is to explain the student support system in virtual learning environment for medical education.Methods: This study was a qualitative research. An extensive search in scientific databases was carried out based on predetermined strategies, and 53 documents were reviewed from 1996 until 2019. Data were analyzed based on Hugh McKenna’s nine-step approach. Results: According to the literature review, determining the support services of students in virtual learning, providing academic and non-academic services is the responsibility of students' cognitive, emotional and social needs. These services lead to greater student participation in the process of self-learning and academic achievement, which is done at three levels: (pre-program, learning process and post-graduate support services). Student support services were categorized into conceptual areas (level, dimensions, and purpose) and the relationship between these conceptual areas was identified.Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, student support services in virtual learning can be divided into two categories: academic and non-academic with relevant subcomponents. It is recommended that educators and policy makers use these results to facilitate student support for different types of virtual learning.

In recent years, industrial and service organizations have invested in improvement projects with emphasis on increasing the performance of processes regarding to the production of manufactured goods and services, applying techniques to optimize production time in order to minimize the restrictive effects of the funds invested in processing or obtaining processes in order to reduce the losses of general scope. This paper discusses the impact of the innovation in making use of business intelligence (BI) concepts about production records of a publishing area in a higher education institution (HEI) that promotes distance education (DE) in Brazil, helping the industry in their managements decisions, having a target minimize time on production of learning material through more effective control with the use of cubes in the form of reports for metric queries of delivery delays and metrics on the production tasks financial values, and filtering the processed information so that managers can view information from various angles and managerial perspectives. The objectives of this paper are to demonstrate the impact on using BI concepts in the process of an editorial department of a HEI focusing on the development of teaching materials for the courses of DE and identify the financial cost-benefit ratio for the HEI with the deploying BI in a software fee platform in its publishing department. The sector is responsible by in courseware publishing organizations that usually do not have systems with this emphasis: support on making managerial decisions.
