“…PC subscale represents a case of providing alternative solutions to a problem encountered and maintaining personal control in problematic situations. (27) A significant difference was also found in this study in favor of the nurse manager in AA and PC subscales. This result may be due to the fact that nurse managers were more likely to encounter problems, to produce alternative solutions to problems, and to provide high levels of personal control in problematic situations.…”

“…Developed by Heppner and Petersen (25) (1982), the PSI was used for measuring problem solving skills. The PSI aims to evaluate people's thoughts about problem solving behaviors and approaches and how they evaluate themselves about their problem solving skills. Adapted into Turkish by Sahin and Heppner (26) (5, 10, 11, 12, 19, 23, 24, 27, 33, 34, and 35), AA determines reviewing their initial problem solving efforts to use it in the future and investigating actively to find alternative solutions (1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 28, 30, and 31) and PC determines the ability to maintain personal control in problematic situations (13,14,25,27, and 32). (26,27) In this study, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient for total scale score was .84.…”

“…When the relevant literature is examined, there are studies showing similarities with the results obtained in the study (Klahr & Robinson 1981;Ramani, 2005;Thornton, 1999;Yılmaz, 2012). However, some studies reached different findings (İşmen, 2001;Ulusoy et al, 2014). Different findings in the literature may have resulted from variables such as a sample, measurement tools, and research methods.…”

“…Some study results in literature contradict the results of the current study. Moreover, some studies (Dundar, 2009;Izgar, 2008;Kucukkaragoz, Denis, Ersoy, & Karatas, 2009;Ulusoy, Tosun, & Aydin, 2014;Yildirim & Yalcin, 2008) indicate no significant relationship between participants' gender and their problem solving skills. As can be seen, there is not an absolute result about problem solving or inquiry learning skill levels according to gender.…”
