Problem of the Service Life of Self-Lubricated Friction Couples

Abstract: In the article one investigation’s results regarding the influence of work parameters of the porous bearings on the process of oil ageing is presented. Firstly stand tests were performed for the porous bearings sintered of iron powder Höganas (Sweden) and impregnated by protection oils, often used by porous bearings manufactures. Stand tests were performed until the seizure of the bearing was achieved – loss of self-lubricating capability. Then oil was extracted from all bearings and the degree of oil ageing w… Show more

“…Problems of mechanical (elastic strain), thermal, capillary and the like influence the circulation process of oil in porous bearing and are described in [16,17,18], while the influence of chemical interaction was very rarely raised [5,7]. However, this problem is undoubtedly one of the more important aspects connected immediately with the quality of operating characteristics of porous sliding bearings, including their capacity and durability [7,19]. For a description of chemical processes in the liquid -solid system proceeding in the interfacial surface (heterogeneous reaction) two models are usually applied, i.e.…”

“…Knowledge of lubricant parameters and its chemical constitution could give appropriate information about its state. However small amount of lubricant in porous bearing enables only few parameters to be tested, for instance total acid number (TAN) [3], presenting concentration of acid oxidation products and FTIR spectrum providing information due to spectral changes [4].…”
