“…While we are fully aware that there are more RCTs assessing probiotics in the pediatric population, comprehensive documentation of all existing literature was not the goal of this review. The trials on antibiotic‐associated diarrhea, acute diarrhea, necrotizing enterocolitis, atopic dermatitis, respiratory tract infections, and H pylori infection constitute the vast majority of the RCTs assessing probiotic use in childhood disease (51,52). Because of that, in our opinion, the presented data are sufficient to credibly reflect the scope of the amount of clinical evidence on probiotic strain‐specificity in children and the inclusion of additional remaining studies would not significantly change this review’s conclusions.…”

The predominant species used on commercial levels include Lactobacillus , Streptococcus , Enterococcus , Lactococcus , Pediococcus , Bacillus , Escherichia , and sometimes Saccharomyces [ 59 ]. The American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), in its 2020 guidelines, despite indicating that there are knowledge gaps regarding the impact of probiotics on post-infection conditions, conditionally recommended the use of probiotics during antibiotic treatment.…”

“…Probiotics have come into action as medical remedies for gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal ailments such as diarrhoea, irregular bowel movements, inflammatory reactions, etc. (Depoorter & Vandenplas 2022). The maintenance of health using probiotics is based on the principle of competitive interaction of probiotics with pathogens surviving in the intestinal medium by inhibiting their harmful activities (Bermudez-Brito et al 2012).…”
