“…Some others suggest a combination of these approaches (Chase, O'Leary, & Heyman, 2001;Ross & Babcock, 2009). Attempts to discern typologies of IPV are essential to understand the complexities of IPV (Cavanaugh & Gelles, 2005;Pence & Dasgupta, 2006), its disparate causes, correlates, and consequences (Holtzworth-Munroe & Stuart, 1994).…”

These authors studied male batterers on three dimensions (severity of marital violence, generality of the violence, and psychopathology or personality disorder) and the typology that they proposed comprised three types of batterers: (a) family only batterer, (b) dysphoric or borderline batterer, and (c) generally violent or antisocial batterer (see also Dutton, 1988;Saunders, 1992).…”

“…Ross et Babcock (2009) présentent deux sous-types de violence soit la violence réactive et la violence proactive. Le premier type se définit par des gestes de violence plus impulsifs, non planifiés, hostiles, motivés par de la colère et souvent en réponse à une provocation perçue (Bushman et Anderson, 2001).…”
