Pristine and Overoxidized Polypyrrole by XPS

Abstract: Articles you may be interested inLow contact resistivity of metals on nitrogen-doped cuprous oxide (Cu2O) thin-films J. Appl. Phys. 112, 084508 (2012); 10.1063/1.4758305Structure and corrosion behavior of platinum/ruthenium/nitrogen doped diamondlike carbon thin films An x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy ͑XPS͒ analysis was performed of polypyrroles ͑PPy͒ electrosynthesized on Pt in aqueous solution. Spectra were recorded both for the as-synthesized ͑pristine͒ polymer ͑specimen 1͒ and for the so-called ''overoxi… Show more

“…In order to confirm the identification of the CLN-OH groups and verify the presence of the primary aminic ones, chemical derivatization-XPS, extensively and successfully applied in our laboratory also to electrosynthesised polypyrroles, [40][41][42][43] has been exploited.…”

“…The pulses had the following voltage sequence: 0 V, 20.350 V, 0 V vs. reference, each step lasting 4 ms. The copper loading, expressed as electrodeposition charge density, varied from 17 to 340 mC cm 22 , approximately corresponding to a deposition time of 1.5-20 s or, equivalently, to 125-1670 pulses. The charge density exclusively due to PPy reduction was estimated to be negligible with respect to that of copper deposition by performing blank pulsed experiments on PPy films in the supporting electrolyte solution.…”

“…Analysis performed with the same XPS apparatus on standard CuO powder did not exhibit any transformation even when exposed to X-rays for a longer time, 21 while the same degradation effect was observed when exposing copper oxides dispersed in inorganic matrices. 22 The mechanism originating this transformation is not clear although heating related effects could be involved.…”

“…The PD functional monomer is quite suitable for molecular imprinting because it grows to form compact (rigid) polymer films, which offer hydrophilic, hydrophobic, basic, and other recognition sites (Table 6 ) [ 143 145 ]. In addition, these films can be made thin and continuous, a feature required to afford a short response time of a chemosensor [ 143 ].…”
