Priority Influence of Horizontal Forces at Rolling on Operation of Main Sheet Rolling Equipment

Abstract: Abstract. Horizontal force during unsteady rolling is considered with its calculation for 4-high rolling stands when rolling torques and rolling stands geometrical characteristics are known. Phenomenon of appearance of horizontal forces applied to work rolls preceding appearance of all other basic loads in sheet rolling mill stands and their main drive lines was theoretically and experimentally proved for different rolling mill stands.

“…Detailed researches of relations between horizontal forces and dynamic rolling torques in main drive lines of WRs are shown in [5]. Experimental studies results of dynamic horizontal forces and rolling force acting in roughing rolling stand of hot strip mill (HSM) 1700 [5] show that start of horizontal forces increase is earlier by 0.01sec than increase of rolling force. In addition, on practice for numerous roughing rolling stands of HSMs 1700 start of horizontal forces increase is earlier by 0.03sec than increase of dynamic rolling torques acting on spindles near WRs.…”

“…Researches of forces acting in rolling stands in the horizontal direction show that their values during metal-in / metal bite by WRs and metal-out can reach their maximum, which for reversing rolling stands of thick sheet rolling mill 3000 of PJSC 'ILYICH iron and steel works' can be around Fmax = 3÷4 MN and its value much smaller than vertical rolling force P [12][13][14]. Рmax = 60÷70 MN in the rolling stands of thick sheet rolling mill 3000 and forces P act inside rolling stands without plastic deformations and damages of details compared to details undergoing plastic deformations and damages due to dynamic horizontal impact forces F(refer to fig.…”

“…One of the most important dynamic load acting on housings windows, facing strips, lining straps and chocks is horizontal force which can be around 0.3…9 MN [12][13][14] due to horizontal gaps between details of chocks and housings. That is why it is necessary to use designs and technological solutions which can provide gap-free connections during loading of rolling stands.…”
