“…We demonstrated the usefulness of the gfp reporter system in an in vivo system by intraperitoneally injecting mice with C. jejuni that had been transformed with a gfp-containing vector. While mice do not represent a suitable model for Campylobacter-mediated enteritis, investigators have used intraperitoneal injection of mice to examine the interaction of C. jejuni with various components of the immune system (17,18,29). In conjunction with flow cytometry analysis, we demonstrate the application of the new vector containing gfp to show the cellular subset associated with C. jejuni in BALB/c mice.…”

“…infection. [25][26][27] We thus followed the systemic spread and infection for the internal organs (i.e., liver, spleen) after intravenous infection of BALB/c mice with this human clinical isolate of C. coli. We followed the course of infection and cytokine production.…”

“…The C. coli 26536 CFU in these organs were determined as previously described. 25 At least 6 mice per time point were infected. For organ burden determination, at least 3 mice were sacrificed per time point, and at least another 3 for cytokine analyses.…”
