Primary lymphoplasmacytoid lymphoma of the trachea with immunoglobulin G paraprotein

Abstract: A primary tracheal lymphoma with immunoglobulin G (IgG)-associated monoclonal serum paraprotein treated with surgery and chemotherapy is reported. As far as we know this is the first lymphoplasmacytoid lymphoma reported in the tracheobronchial tree and the first with a serum and tissue IgG monoclonal paraprotein. Differential diagnosis must be made essentially with extramedullary plasmacytoma and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. “…Although the most frequent EBI loci observed in NHL patients differ, the main and lobar bronchi are the most common sites (2,4,7). The most common histological subtypes of endobronchial lymphoma are considered to be bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma and diffuse B-cell lymphoma (6,7,9), although too few patients have been assessed to draw definitive conclusions. Further investigations of EBI accompanying NHL are warranted.…”

“…Die Verdachtsdiagnose extrathorakaler Tumor kann durch die charakteristische Fluss-Volumen-Kurve gestellt werden. Auffällige Ergebnisse der Spirometrie, progrediente Dyspnoe und fehlender Behandlungserfolg indizieren häufig eine Bronchoskopie, welche zur richtigen Diagnose führt [7].…”
