Primary Common Iliac Artery Angiosarcoma With Multiple Bone Metastases Revealed by Dual-Time Point FDG PET/CT Imaging

Abstract: Iliac artery angiosarcoma is rare, and bone metastasis as its presenting initial symptom is extremely rare. A 67-year-old man with a history of low back pain presented with multiple MRI-identified lumbar and sacrum lesions highly suggestive of bone metastasis. On subsequent PET/CT scan, in addition to multiple vertebrae and pelvis hypermetabolism, a lesion with intense focal uptake was discovered within the lumen of left common iliac artery. Dual-time point quantitative analysis revealed that the lesion-to-liv… Show more

“…The pathological examination was very crucial for the diagnosis; however, a biopsy may be obtained from distant metastases or neoplastic embolism 1,2 . 18 F-FDG PET/CT is a useful imaging modality for differentiating arterial malignancy from arterial thromboembolism 10,11 . The present case also highlights the advantage of 18 F-FDG PET/CT in better staging patients with epithelioid angiosarcoma.…”

“…Adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy (45%) with aortic replacement resulted in the median survival of 240 days (IQR, 1-1590) (Table 2). 19,23,31,35,[77][78][79][80] Sub-group analysis A survival analysis was performed based on hypothesis that independent variables of anatomical site, gender, surgical approach, adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy and metastatic disease have no impact on survival (days) (Kaplan-Meier and log-rank test). The test of probability did not reach any statistical significance for an objective inference on anatomical site, gender, surgical approach, adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy (p > 0.05) (for supplementary information, see Figures 3 to 5).…”

“…A travers la pré sentation de deux é tudes cliniques, il a é té montré que les sarcomes vasculaires pré sentent une augmentation de la captation du 18 F-FDG au cours du temps, ce qui pourrait être utile pour orienter vers une origine né oplasique en raison de ces localisations tumorales atypiques [186,187].…”
