SYNOPSIS One hundred cases of primary malignant tumour of the liver coming to necropsy in the period have been reviewed. The overall tumour incidence was 0-46 % of all necropsies. The overall tumour incidence in hepatic cirrhosis was 12-3 %, but the corresponding male and female incidences were 17-5 and 4-4 % respectively. There was no significantly increased tumour incidence in haemochromatosis.An increasing incidence of primary malignant tumours of the liver has been noted since 1940 and appears to be due to a corresponding increase in incidence of hepatic cirrhosis. Hepatocellular carcinomas outnumbered cholangiocarcinomas by 8 to 1, were more common in males than females (6 to 1), and in 77 % of cases occurred in cirrhotic livers. Tumours supervened as a complication of macronodular or predominantly macronodular cirrhotic patterns.

Έγεννήθην είς Σητείαν Κρήτης τήν 26ην 'Ιουνίου 1946. Τό έτος 1964 επεράτωσα τάς γυμνασιακός μου σπουδάς eiç τήν Σητείαν. Τό έτος 1965 είσήχθην κατόπιν εξετάσεων είς τήν Ίατρικήν Σχολήν τοϋ Πανεπι στημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, είς τήν οποίαν υπήρξα υπότροφος τοϋ Ι.Κ.Υ. κατά τά τρία τελευταία ετη των σπουδών μου. Τόν Μάρτιον τοϋ 1972 ελαβον τό πτυχίον της 'Ιατρικής μέ βαθμόν «λίαν καλώς». Έξεπλήρωσα τήν ύπηρεσίαν υπαίθρου είς τό Άγροτικόν Ίατρεϊον Γερανίου -Χανίων από τό 1972 εως τό 1973. > 'Ακολούθως έξεπλήρωσα τρίμηνον ύπηρεσίαν είς τό Ρυθμιστικό« Κεντρον τοϋ Γ.Κ.Ν.Α. "Ηρχισα τήν ειδικότητα της Παθολογίας, ως εσωτερικός βοηθός της Κλινικής της Παθολογικής φυσιολογίας τοϋ Πανεπιστημίου 'Αθηνών, είς τό Νοσοκομεΐον «Βασιλεύς Παύλος» τόν Ίούλιον τοϋ 1974, τήν οποίαν επεράτωσα τόν φεβρουάριον τοϋ 1977. Παραλλήλως διατηρώ θεσιν Πανεπιστημιακού Βοηθοϋ είς τό ' Εργαστήριον ' Ιστολογίας -' Εμβρυολογίας από τόν Μάρτιον τοϋ 1975, εκτελούσα διδακτικόν έργον, ένθα καί ευρίσκομαι εως σήμερον.
