The work analyzed the composition and other physiochemical properties of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG mixture available in Bangladesh by cylinder. LPG Composition (C2-C6), Butadiene, Total Sulfur, Cu Corrosion, Relative Density and Vapor Pressure were determined by respective ASTM methods. Free water content was measured visually and odour tested by smell detection. Data from nine samples were used to compare with ASTM and Indian Standards. The results of this analysis revealed that the LPG contains propane and butane with a certain range of ratio. But that has no free water content. The total Sulfur content is within the permissible limit according to ASTM Standards. The samples do not have corrosive hydrogen sulfide. The vapor pressure is lower than the maximum limit and have very low linear relationship with relative density. The calorific value is highly dependent on the propane and butane content and moderately related to the relative density. Compared to ASTM and Indian standards, the examined LPG mixtures are found to be safe for the tropical country.

Silicon carbide (SiC) films were deposited on stainless steel (SS), mild steel (MS) and aluminium (Al) from a SiC targeted in a magnetron sputtering system to produce the amorphous SiC coating. Magnetron sputtering is a Physical Vapor Deposition process for deposited material onto substrate by ejecting atom from such SiC and condensing the ejected atom onto SS, MS and Al metals in high vacuum environment. The behavior of the films as corrosion protection barriers in different concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) solution in 0.5 M and 1.0 M at different temperatures (30 o C and 50 o C) were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. Films on SS exhibited a better corrosion resistance than MS and Al. The weight loss measurement, it shows that uncoated metals loss more weight than coated metals for longer time of immersion. Meanwhile the EIS results also depicted that the polarization resistance, (R p) coated metals indicates higher value compared to uncoated metals. The water salinity and temperatures also showed a significant effect on polarization resistance, (R p ) for both coated and uncoated metals. The R p are decreased with the increased of salinity and temperature accordingly. X-ray diffraction (XRD) used for determination of phase identification. Based on XRD, there are no higher peaks were obtained on SiC, and showed that SiC were confirmed amorphous. It concluded that this study shows corrosion rate of coated metals was decreased obviously compared to uncoated metals and SiC nanocomposite coating performed a significant corrosion behaviors and resistance parameter on different metals.

The acidic compounds such as Mercaptans, H2S and COS are commonly present in the liquid LPG streams in the south Pars gas processing plant. Sulfur contaminants not only lead to odor problems but can form objectionable oxides on combustion and cause environmental pollution. In present study, Support Vector Machine (SVM) is employed to develop an intelligent model to predict the sulfur content of propane and butane products of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) treatment unit of south Pars gas processing plant of Assaluyeh/Iran. A set of seven input/output plant data each consisting of 365 data has been used to train, optimize, and test the model. Model development that consists of training, optimization and test was performed using randomly selected 70%, 15%, and 15% of available data respectively. Test results from the SVM developed model showed good compliance with operating plant data. Squared correlation coefficients for developed models are 0.97 and 0.99 for propane and butane sulfur content, respectively. According to the results of the present case study, SVM could be regarded as a reliable accurate approach for modeling the sulfur content of LPG treatment unit of a natural gas processing plant.
