Prevalence of Extended-spectrum β-Lactamase and Quinolone Resistance Genes in Escherichia coli Clinical Isolates and their Antibiotic Resistance

Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) gene and quinolone resistance determinant (qnr) and the pattern of antibiotic resistance in the ESBL-producing Escherichia coli clinical isolates. The 42 ESBL-producing strains from total 274 isolates were detected using a double disk synergy test.
