“…Socioeconomic status is another affecting factor in IN. In one previous study, IN was seen more among participants of low SES who earned less than $10 000/year; however, in our study, the IN group showed significantly higher proportions of both low and high SES than did the control group. This could be explained as the fact that persons of lower SES usually engage in physical work that puts heavy loads on their feet and shoes, have poor foot hygiene, and have less access to medical care .…”

“…In our study, incidence and prevalence showed increasing tendencies, and this trend may be influenced by lifestyle changes such as increased participation in physical activities like mountain climbing and golf and by increased health knowledge, promotion of health‐seeking behavior and easily accessible medical facilities. Interestingly, the incidence of IN followed a bimodal distribution with respect to age (~15 and 50 years old), and these findings were similar to those from a previous study . The high prevalence of IN among teenagers can be explained by the association between high physical activity and IN, and the increased IN prevalence in older subjects is associated with its high prevalence in middle‐aged women.…”

“…83.6% in all groups) and white (50.7% in the oxycodone HCl IR 10-mg group to 73.1% in the placebo group). The higher proportion of female patients is consistent with previously published demographic data for bunionectomy surgery 16,17 . At baseline, most patients described their pain as moderate with the VRS and their mean pain intensity ranged from 6.0 to 6.5 using the NRS.…”
