Abstract: Canine parvovirus (CPV) and canine influenza virus (CIV) are highly contagious virus infecting members of the canine family including dogs, coyotes, foxes and wolves. The research work was carried out to determine the prevalence of CPV and CIV in dogs (stray and pet dogs) in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Feni and Chittagong Districts by using Rapigen CPV and CIV Ag test kit. “…There are reports of CIV prevalence from countries of the Far East, especially China (6,26,28), Korea (1,13), Bangladesh (22), and Thailand (19). Lee It is remarkable that the seropositivity determined in our study (5.3%) was higher than that in these two countries.…”

Sen et al (22) detected no antibodies against CIV in nasal swabs obtained from 50 dogs of different ages from various regions of Bangladesh.…”

“…PVE had the highest prevalence (34.1%) among dogs than other diseases, which is because PVE is endemic in dogs in Bangladesh and neighboring countries [ 1 , 17 , 18 ]. Islam et al [ 1 ] assessed a 30% prevalence of PVE in dogs in Mymensing, which is near the Dhaka district, and this prevalence is very close to the findings of this study.…”

“…The virus spreads through the feces of affected dogs having high morbidity (100%), 10% mortality [ 6 ], and up to 90% fatality [ 2 ]. Dogs affected by CPV are usually characterized with fever, anorexia, lethargy, depression, vomiting, mucoid to hemorrhagic diarrhea, and sometimes leukopenia [ 18 ]. Significant factors associated with CPV disease worldwide include being younger than 5 months old, male, breeds such as Alsatians, Mongrels, Rottweiler, and indigenous dogs, non-vaccinated, and dry season [ 1 , 3 , 7 , 8 ].…”

“…In Bangladesh, no molecular confirmation of the presence of CPV is available, although diagnosis with a rapid detection kit suggests endemic occurrence [17][18][19][20]. Pet practitioners regularly find CPV cases almost year-round and use a standard vaccination strategy for prevention.…”
