This study aimed to clarify differences in mental health, psychosocial status, and mental health-related factors among mothers of ADHD children between those with and without ADHD tendencies of their own. The data from 149 mothers of children with ADHD, collected through an online survey, were analyzed.Mothers with ADHD tendencies had poorer mental health, more ADHD children, and felt a lack of understanding of their surroundings than mothers without ADHD tendencies. There were differences in mental health-related factors depending on the mother's ADHD tendencies. Therefore, individualized interventions based on the presence or absence of the mother's ADHD tendencies may be important to maintain mental health in mothers of ADHD children.

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurobiological disorder with a prevalence of 5%-10% in the world that negatively impacts school behavior and achievement. There have been many studies reveals that attention disorders are caused by the decreased levels of dopamine and norepinephrine neurotransmitter. However, particular concern nowadays are the emotional and behavioral problems. The emotional and behavioral problem is suspected to be caused by the decrease in serotonin level. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in serotonin level between ADHD and non-ADHD children.Method: This study was an observational case-control study design using random sampling method. Subject of this study was children in Bina Karya Elementary School Surabaya. ADHD severity was assessed using Conners Abreviated Rating Scale. Examination of serotonin levels in blood was done by ELISA method. Informed consent was signed by parents before the study. Data was analyzed using independent T-test.Results: 44 (23 ADHD and 21 non-ADHD) children from grade 1 to 6 was included in the study. Based on the gender, 13 children were girls and 31 children were boys. Serotonin level in ADHD children was significantly higher than non-ADHD children (2.148 ± 0.94 vs 2.006 ± 0.115 μmol/L; p = 0.0001). Conclusion:Serotonin level in ADHD children was significantly higher than non-ADHD children.

Se escribe cotidianamente a nivel internacional acerca del trastorno por déficit de atención con y sin hiperactividad (TDA/H), desde diferentes perspectivas, y la razón es obvia dada su prevalencia, afectación global del individuo y la persistencia a lo largo de toda su vida. Aquí se busca detectar su interrelación con la violencia. Se usa Google Scholar como fuente inicial de búsqueda de artículos sobre el tema y se revisan publicaciones especializadas de los últimos cuatro años, tesis, nacionales e internacionales, libros, todo enfocado en el tema de la violencia. Se logra establecer aspectos como prevalencia, genética, repercusiones sociales y emocionales en los que padecen el TDA/H, trastorno que los afecta globalmente y a lo largo de la vida, así como la creciente evidencia de la relación estrecha entre TDA/H y agresión-violencia. Es un trastorno prevalente a nivel internacional, un problema de salud pública que involucra a todos los estratos sociales, a las instituciones de orden judicial, a las instituciones de la sociedad tanto a nivel educativo como de salud, por lo que las implicaciones para la atención de este segmento de la población han de ser multidisciplinarias.
