Prevalence of alveolar bone deffect pattern in periodontitis patients with diabetes mellitus using bitewing radiography

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to know the prevalence of horizontal pattern bone deffect compare to vertical pattern that found in periodontal disease. “…La limitación en el número de radiografías periapicales jugó un papel preponderante en los datos obtenidos en el presente estudio, presentando datos discordantes en términos de severidad y patrón de pérdida ósea en relación con diversas investigaciones. Nainggolan (16) en Indonesia con radiografías periapicales de diabéticos demostró que los niveles de pérdida ósea de mayor a menor fueron 52% moderada, 33.8% severa y leve con 14.1%; en este estudio el patrón de pérdida ósea más frecuente fue el horizontal representado por el 76,3% versus el patrón vertical con el 23.7%. Asimismo difiere con los resultados de Díaz (17) en Perú, pues la pérdida ósea moderada fue más común en los pacientes diabéticos con una representación del 39.7%, seguida del nivel severo con el 30.2% y finalmente con el 28.6% la pérdida ósea leve; con respecto al patrón de pérdida, en los pacientes diabéticos no existe diferencia sustancial entre el patrón horizontal y vertical.…”
