Kurakake et al (1994) postulated that nonionic surfactants increase the enzymatic degradation of bagasse, a forage inherently recalcitrant to digestion, by enhancing removal of hydrophobic degradation products and lignin from the site of digestion. In the present study, Tween 80 increased association of the enzymes in preparation A with cotton and filter paper, suggesting that it may be promoting binding of exogenous enzymes to their substrate.…”
