Preserving Surgical Professionalism in Social Media; Long Live the Media, But Let Live the Surgeon

Abstract: The positive impact of social media in surgery is ever increasing, although they present some challenging aspects, as preservation of medical professionalism. Physicians should respect patient privacy and integrity through their online presence. However, their personal expression also deserves respect, not being labeled “unprofessional” just for conveying private attitudes and beliefs.
