Preservation of Hypermobile Teeth by Establishing Posterior Occlusal Support Using Implant Prostheses: A 5‐Year Follow‐Up

Abstract: For patients with periodontally compromised, hypermobile teeth, implant-supported fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) or removable dentures are often used after extracting mobile teeth. The loss of native teeth may carry social consequences, depending upon the patient's age, state of health, and degree of social functioning. This report represents successful stabilization and preservation of questionable, hypermobile teeth that have been damaged by traumatic occlusion due to the loss of posterior support with a cro… Show more

“…Lack of evidence about the long-term clinical outcome of treatment may complicate the process of clinical decision-making [1]. Implant prostheses or RPDs are the treatment of choice for patients who have lost posterior occlusal support [6]. Prosthetic rehabilitation of patients who have lost anterior guidance and posterior occlusal support using anterior restoration and posterior RPD has been recommended for those with financial problems or special medical needs.…”

“…Stabilized zirconia was used for maxillary full ceramic crowns due to its optimal properties, high survival rate, and esthetic considerations [5]. When marginal and internal fits were compared between the CAD/CAM and slip-cast zirconia frameworks, higher axial, occlusal, and marginal adaptations were seen in the CAD/CAM group [6]. Therefore, a milling technique was used to make definitive restorations for the patient's upper teeth.…”

“…The use of dental implants in the rehabilitation of partially or totally edentulous individuals has increased in recent years as an alternative to conventional dental treatments. 1,2 Titanium (Ti) and its alloys are commonly used for dental implant applications due to their excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. The thin oxide layer/passive film (TiO 2 ) generated when Ti is exposed to air inhibits corrosion processes and provides a superior interaction/interface with the surrounding tissues, preventing inflammatory responses.…”

“…The aims of this study were (1) to fabricate a bioactive Ti coating doped with Ca, P, Si, and Ag produced by MAO; (2) to investigate the TiO 2 layer stability under wear and corrosion during tribocorrosion experiments; and (3) to evaluate the cellular responses of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) cultured on the modified surfaces.…”
