‡ State Council of Higher Education in VirginiaStudents in the economics capstone course usually complete regression-based projects and learn to write for and speak to their peers. However, students must be able to speak to a general audience, for example, in interviews or the workplace. This paper details a pilot activity implemented in a small class setting. The goal was to help students understand the importance of and improve effectiveness when speaking to a general audience about technical topics. Our takeaway, while not formally tested as an experiment, is that students struggled with this task and need training and practice starting earlier in the curriculum.

Presentation skills are considered as important skills in the workplace, in which the ability to give impressive presentations is needed. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate how the presentations are performed in order to develop and improve presentation skills. This article aims to determine what evaluations can be used to evaluate student presentations in the online context learning. This research was conducted using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and a mapping approach, a process of identifying, categorizing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting articles that have been indexed in a well-known databases within a timeframe of 2012-2022. The literature review in this study was reviewed based on the Scopus databases as the primary source. The results indicate that teacher evaluation, peer evaluation, self assessment, team assessment, and formative tests can be used effectively for evaluating online presentations using video, live online meetings, online platforms, social media, and game-based applications. The findings are expected to be useful in developing students’ oral presentation skills and transferable skills. In light of these findings, this article also offers a number of implications and recommendations for further research.

Oral presentation is a formal talk on a specific topic given to the audience through presentation tool. With the widespread use of oral presentations in a variety of professions, the ability to deliver an oral presentation using PowerPoint is becoming increasingly important. However, when a speaker practices alone, the presenter is unable to communicate with the audience, which means that the emotional input is unaffected, resulting in the training effect. A presentation assistant training system is designed using the anthropomorphic design concept which consists anthropomorphic appearance sensor to enable presentation practitioners to receive emotional feedback in the anthropomorphic appearance and further sensory immersion, thereby improving the training effect. The results of a comparative grouping experiment with 60 students at a university reveal that the system based on anthropomorphic design aspects has a greater practice effect. The design of the system has viable importance to improve oral presentation ability which also opens up for the improvement of the system, product research, and development.
