Preparative isolation of arylbutanoid‐type phenol [(‐)‐rhododendrin] with peak tailing on conventional C18 column using middle chromatogram isolated gel column coupled with reversed‐phase liquid chromatography

Abstract: Reversed‐phase liquid chromatography coupled with middle chromatogram isolated gel column was employed for the efficient preparative separation of the arylbutanoid‐type phenol [(‐)‐rhododendrin] from Saxifraga tangutica. Universal C18 (XTerra C18) and XCharge C18 columns were compared for (‐)‐rhododendrin fraction analysis and preparation. Although tailing and overloading occurred on the XTerra C18 column, the positively charged reversed‐phase C18 column (XCharge C18) overcame these drawbacks, allowing for fav… Show more

“…[12,19] The bandgap emission is derived from the QCE of the quantum dots, resulting in the energy level splitting when the particle size is smaller than the exciton Bohr radius. [83,84] Therefore, the regulation of intact carbon core has a greater influence on optical properties of CQDs, such as the edge effect [85,86] and elements doping, [87,88] showing size-dependent emission. First, the arrangement of benzene rings in the carbon core leads to the formation of specific edge structures, such as zig-zag and armchair.…”

“…Preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (prep-HPLC) is an efficient strategy for the large-scale separation of individual constituents from complex samples, including microorganisms and natural products [15][16][17][18]. This method is extensively employed in numerous areas because of its excellent column efficiency, superior separation reproducibility, online detection, and automatic control [19,20].…”

“…The bitter taste and cooling properties of S. atrata help to remove heat from the lungs [18]. The components of Saxifraga have been demonstrated to have excellent antioxidant activity in previous research [19][20][21][22][23]. However, to date, only four antioxidants (ethyl gallate, 11-O-galloylbergenin, rutin, and isoquercitrin) have been identified in S. atrata [18].…”
