Preparation of ZnSe Quantum Dots by Hydrothermal Method Assisted by Ammonia

Abstract: ZnSe quantum dots (QDs) with high intrinsic fluorescence quantum efficiency (QY) and low defect luminescence were prepared by hydrothermal method assisted with ammonia, in which the selenium powder and zinc acetate were used as Se and Zn source, and the mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) was used as ligand. Effect of ammonia amount, Zn/Se ratio, Zn/MPA ratio, and reaction time was investigated in detail in this study. The as-prepared ZnSe QDs were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron micro… Show more

“…Quantum dots (QDs) [ 8 , 9 ] have been attracted more attention of chemical researchers, may be due to their unique catalytic/photocatalytic capability in the chemical catalysis and the photocatalysis processes [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ]. The QDs have been extensively applied in the fields of environmental treatment/water treatment, chemical industry, sensors, solar cells, electronics, optoelectronics devices, cosmetics, drug delivery systems, and biological processes [ 10 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ]. There are many nanoparticles (NPs) such as CdSe, ZnSe, CuSe, AgSe, Se, Ag, Cu, Au, Zn, and other metallic QDs which are coupled with/or supported on the magnetic composites [ 19 , 20 ].…”

“…for example, red-green-blue laser diodes [2,3], mid-infrared fibers [4,5], optically controlled switches [6], sensors [7], non-linear optical devices [8], laser screens and thin film transistors [9], lenses and dielectric mirrors for infrared laser [10], tunable mid-IR laser sources [11]. Moreover, ZnSe NCs have attracted interest due to its high luminescence quantum yield up to 50%-60% which, additionally, can be significantly increased by doping [12][13][14][15][16]. Given the abovementioned unique properties, ZnSe in nanoscale forms has good prospects for an application in photovoltaic cells, miniature sensors, fluorescent probes in biological imaging and light emitters for integrated optoelectronics.…”
