“…Therefore, we selected SAA for further research. Due to the low content of SAA in S. miltiorrhiza , some researchers transformed salvianolic acid B to SAA by using different reaction conditions, including pH, temperature, pressure, humidity [ 43 ], or subcritical water extraction [ 44 ] to increase the yield of SAA. Oxysophoridine (OSR), an alkaloid extracted from Sophora alopecuroides L, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic effects on spinal cord injury [ 45 ].…”

“…The solvent system selection is the most important step for a successful PZRCCC procedure. Ideal partition coefficient in both basic (K base ≫ 1) and acidic (K acid ≪ 1) and good solubility of the sample in the solvent system are essential for a suitable solvent system [33][34][35][36][37]. Based on the optimization of LLE solvent systems, n-hexane/ethyl acetate/methanol/water at volume ratios of 7:3:7:3 and 8:4:8:4 were tested, it was found the systems could not give small enough K acid , indicating the targets could not distribute well in aqueous phase when the pH was adjusted lower than 2.…”

“…The interconversion of these compounds has been studied by various authors. Li et al [ 21 ] with the review of previous studies have outlined degradation processes in plant tissues and aqueous extracts where salvianolic acid A (SA-A, 22 ) is shown as the degradation product of SA-B among others ( Figure 2 ). Other studies have further shown that such transformation can readily takes place under high temperature, high pressure and high humidity environments in aqueous media [ 22 ].…”
