Preparation of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials Based on MCM-41 and Its Applications

Abstract: This work reports the covalent attachment of three different calix[4]arenes (calix[4]arene (C4), p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene (C4S), and p-tert-butyl-calix[4]arene (PC4)) to MCM-41, using a three-step modification process. 3-Chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (ClPTS) was first attached to the mesoporous silica surface and subsequently converted to amides via the reaction with toluene diisocyanate (TDI). Finally, calix[4]arene derivatives attached to the isocyanate ending remained available on toluene di-iso-cyanate. Cha… Show more

“…TDI, as a bi‐functional organic compound, possesses two isocyanate groups with different activities at para and ortho positions. The para ‐isocyanate groups of TDI reacted with accessible hydroxyl groups on the surface of nano‐TiO 2 preferentially to form urethane bond and ortho ‐positions were preserved owing to the steric hindrance in the TDI molecule . The isocyanate groups that remained unreacted were then reduced and converted to amine groups with water.…”

“…Aerward, the materials were utilized to examine the sorption properties of organotin compounds tributyltin (TBT), triphenyltin (TPT) and dibutyltin (DBT). 106,107 MCM allyl calix 141, as another inorganicorganic hybrid material, was synthesized by Narkhede et al using covalent modication of an MCM-41 with a tetra-allyl calixarene 140 conjugate. Scheme 41 demonstrates the synthesis of allyl calixarene functionalized mesoporous silica.…”

“…Therefore, a specific technology has been bloomed and re-designed in the last 40 years, called molecular imprinting (MI). The whole process is based on adsorption technology, which is already one of the most successful techniques for pollutants removal [28][29][30][31][32][33][34].…”
