“…A stirred mixture of tert-butyl dimethyl octacos10-enyloxy silane 9 (0.520 g, 0.99 mmol) and 10% Pd/C (10 wt% of substrate) in methanol (10 mL) was hydrogenated under hydrogen atmosphere at RT for 12 h. The reaction mixture was filtered using celite cake and filtrate was concentrated and dried under vacuum to get pure 1-octacosanol 10 as a white solid (0.390 g, 95%) with melting point 78-79°C. The spectral data matched well with those reported in the literature [16] and is reported below: IR (cm À1 , KBr): 3333, 2918, 2849, 1464, 1063, 729; 1 H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl 3 ): d 0.90 (t, J ¼ 6.8 Hz, 3H, CH 3 -CH 2 ), 1.29 (s, 50H, CH 2 -(CH 2 ) 25 -CH 2 ), 1.56-1.51 (m, 2H, CH 2 -(CH 2 ) 25 ), 2.14 (S, 1H, CH 2 -OH), 3.6 (t, J ¼ 6.7 Hz, 2H, (CH 2 ) 25 -CH 2 O); 13…”
