Preparation of molecularly imprinted polymers on the surface of magnetic carbon nanotubes with a pseudo template for rapid simultaneous extraction of four fluoroquinolones in egg samples

Abstract: Fluoroquinolones (FQs) have emerged as one of the most important class of antibiotics. Due to their low concentration in bio-matrix samples which contain a lot of interfering substances, the efficient solid phase extraction and accurate determination of FQs remain a challenge. In this paper, a new strategy for the isolation and enrichment of FQs from egg samples was obtained by molecularly imprinted polymers on the surface of magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs@MIP), which not only can be collected and separated … Show more

“…The preparation of MCNTs@MIPs was carried out according to our previous work (Xiao et al, 2013a(Xiao et al, , 2013b with minor change. LOFX (1.0 mmol) was dissolved in 10 mL DMSO, and 4.0 mmol MAA was added then followed by ultrasonication for 30 min to prepare preassembly solution.…”

“…Furthermore, nanomaterials were also considered to combine with Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles to obtain high specific surface area and improve the ductility of magnetic materials. Xiao et al listed several preparation methods for magnetic carbon nanotubes applied in synthesizing MMIPs . Tayyebeh Madrakian et al prepared an imprinted polymer based on magnetic multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MMWNTs) using amidoamine as the functional monomers for determination of naproxen in human urine samples .…”

“…Other researchers have coated the MIP directly onto the walls of functionalized CNTs, and here, we cite several of the more recent reports on this technology. Fluoroquinolones were extracted from eggs using a poly(methacrylic acid) MIP on magnetic CNTs, and the magnetic properties were used to isolate the polymers (Xiao et al, 2013). Chlorpyrifos have been separated from aqueous solutions using vinyl-functionalized CNTs (Anirudhan and Alexander, 2013), and a similar separation for ribavirin from solution was shown to be effective using a polyacrylamide MIP coated onto nanotubes (Xu and Xu, 2012).…”
